Life after divorce Singapore may not be easy.
As a family, you have 2 partners looking after the children and paying for the mortgage. After the divorce, if one party has care and control of the children, he/ she would have the main responsibility of caring for the children.
Financially, there will be 2 apartments to pay for, instead of 1. Household bills will be doubled given that there will now be effectively 2 households.
Emotionally, it can also be a struggle.
This applies even if you are rich and famous.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
Recently, Angelina Jolie opened up about her divorce with Brad Pitt for the first time.
She held back tears and told the interviewer that “it was a very difficult time”.
To Jolie, her focus is her children.
The couple filed for divorce in September 2016 and cited irreconcilable differences. In the months that followed, Pitt was investigated for child abuse and later cleared of child abuse allegations.
In January this year, the actors released a joint statement and said that they would continue their divorce proceedings in private henceforth. This was to protect the privacy of their children.
In Jolie’s words, “many, many people find themselves in this situation… we are a family and we always will be a family, and we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it.”
