Many of my clients are concerned about going to Court for their divorce. To a layman, the prospect of going to Court can be terrifying. The good news is you do not need to attend your uncontested divorce hearing Singapore if your divorce is uncontested!
Uncontested Divorce Hearing Singapore
If you have reached an agreement with your spouse on the divorce and all related terms (children, assets and maintenance), the uncontested divorce process will be an administrative one.
We will prepare all the necessary divorce papers and arrange for signing. Once the papers are signed, they will be submitted to Court and the Court will grant the divorce and make an order based on the agreed terms in the uncontested divorce hearing Singapore.
It is as simple as that!
You will have a problem when your spouse refuses to get a divorce with you, or if you can’t agree on the terms with your spouse. Your divorce will be a contested divorce. In such a scenario, it is likely that you would have to go through mediation to resolve the matter.
The time taken will be longer. Likewise, the costs will be higher. Hence, I always encourage my clients to attempt to resolve the issues amicably.
However, if you are not on talking terms with your spouse, or if your spouse is violent, it may not be possible for you to do so.
