The number of marriages for the month of December 2016 is the highest, making up 11.5% of the total number of marriages in Singapore in 2016. When interviewed, couples and wedding planners say that December is popular with couples because work slows down and the festive season gets into gear. Couples find it easier to take time off for their big day. Some couples get married in December to optimize their leave by taking leave alongside the New Year and Christmas holidays. Some couples also choose to wed in December as people are generally more relaxed and it is a more joyful season to celebrate weddings.
On the other hand, April and August are the least popular, possibly due to the Hungry Ghost Festival in August and Qing Ming Festival in April.

Conversely, the average number of divorces/ annulments in Singapore tends to fluctuate between 7,000 to 8,000. Regardless of which month a couple intends to get married in, it may be wise to draw up a prenuptial agreement. A prenuptial agreement protects your interest and rights in the event that things turn sour in the future.
