According to the Singapore Department of Statistics, 7,614 marriages ended in a divorce or an annulment in 2016, up from 7,522 in 2015. Many couples who got divorced are young and not afraid to start a new relationship. Some turn to matchmaking agencies in the hope of finding new love. A matchmaking agency Singapore is reportedly running singles events for divorcees and widows.
CompleteMe (matchmaking agency Singapore) organized an event to help these new singles to find a partner. The founder of the marriage agency Singapore, Ms Michelle Goh, said that she has signed up 20% more widowed or divorced clients in the last 3 years. Most of them are in their 30s to 40s. About 60% are women and 40% are men.
Case study
Ms Tan met her husband, a divorcee, at one such dating event organized by CompeleteMe.
She was initially worried as “there must have been a reason for the split”. However, she was reassured after gaining a better understanding of her husband.
Ms Tan said: “I think people have to change their mindsets, find out the reasons for the break-up, and keep an open mind.”
Human reserouces officer Eugene feels that “divorcees and widows may be more serious about wanting to settle down”.

As a divorce lawyer in Singapore, I think it is a perfect idea for a matchmaking agency Singapore to organize dating events for divorcees. Many of my clients are nice, decent people. It is rather unfortunate that their marriage ends in a divorce and I dare say that if given a second chance, they will be good partners.
Hopefully, more divorcees will be able to find the right one!
