Sometimes, I get asked by clients about how to move forward after divorce.
Truth is, nobody gets married thinking about a divorce.
Divorce can be especially painful if everyone around you is happily married
Gwen Stefani on her failed marriage
After her recent divorce, Gwen Stefani said that marriage was the one thing she did not want to fail at. In an interview with Glamour magazine, she admitted that her divorce made her feel embarrassed.
Stefani often looked at her parents who have been married for more than 50 years. Their success at marriage made it even harder for her to accept her “failure” at marriage.
Stefani is now seeing Blake Shelton whom she described as a friend to her when she needed a friend.

It is telling that even a superstar feels like a failure after her divorce.
How to move forward after divorce
If you are wondering about how to move forward after divorce, here is my advice:
- Think about the other things that matter- your children and your family. Marriage forms a big part of your life, but there are other things that you should be concerned about.
- Fill your life up. Do not sit around and wallow in self-pity. Learn something. Pick up a new skill. Go out with friends. Do the things that you have always wanted to do but never had the time to do.
- Talk to somebody if you feel like you need to. Do not keep things to yourself. You will only get more depressed.
